Web Services are a superior way to deliver network management services as callable functions. They are the holy grail of a newer model of computing: named services for invoking embeddable EDI network task
This last year the EDI community has shown a substantial increasing interest in AS2. But what exactly is AS2? This is the first in a multipart series to examine AS2 and what it means going forward to the EDI industry. In considering these actions and the upcoming appeal, and the 55,000,o000 API calls made to Todd’s fantastic EDI Platform….I would say that in terms of merit, Loren Data Corp and its wonderful partners, the developers who wrote the code that made those API calls….will eventually outweigh GXS’ where it counts: In delivering value to the companies who are “calling EDI’s Future”, a future where the innovators become preeminent. (In other words, GXS saw Todd Gould way back in ’02, saw the man’s vision, and decided to deal dirty. They (GXS C-Suite exec’s) had many alternatives – partnership, technology sharing, etc. – but chose the absolute laziest path to harming a competitor…..arbitraging the interconnect to TGMS.)
